Protest over Lopsided Admission at Taraba College of Nursing

• Council kicks against low intake of Muslim Students 

Muslims in Taraba State are protesting alleged lopsided admission in the Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Jalingo
The School recently released a 78 admission list, where only 15 Muslim students were admitted, the school register in the admission list said another batch of list would soon be released.
Taraba Truth and Facts gathered that previous admission of Year two students, only 38 Muslim students out of overall 200 students admitted that year.
Some parents alleged their children were denied admission into the college based on religion sentiments.  
  “We have it on good records that the school management does not favor Muslim students because of the religion sentiment promoted by some certain government officials, this is very bad because it’s depriving us access to education, imagine only 15 Muslims  were admitted out of 74 students.”
Another parent said the school admission was compromised to favor a certain religion  and some  tribe, wondering why the school has always have low intake of Muslim students despite their large participation in the admission process.
The Secretary Taraba State Muslim Council Safiyanu Maihanci said over the years, the Taraba College of Nursing has not been favoring Muslim students during admission despite the fact that a lot of Muslim students   sat for the entrance examination.
“We are concern because the school doesn’t admit our Muslim students, even when they do, they are frustrated out of the school after spending much money to gain admission.
We challenge the school to tell us how many Muslim students were admitted from Jalingo, Gassol, Ardo Kola and Ibi were they are large numbers of Muslims, it’s very unfortunate because when we sponsor our members there the system 
He called on the state government to review the school admission process in Kaduna.
When Taraba Truth and Fact contacted the Provost of the Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Augustine  Nfor on phone, he simply decline to comment on the matter.
“come to the school and see the admission list, I don’t even need to talk to you because I don’t have your number on my phone.”
