Murtala Gamji Leads Mobilization of 15,000 Youths, Women for Tinubu/Kefas
A political pressure group, Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), has pledged to mobilise at least 15,000 youths, women, students and elders in Taraba State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group made the pledge in Takum, Taraba State, during a rally organised to mobilise support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
Speaking at the event, A4A Deputy Coordinator, Youth Affairs, Comrade Murtala Muhammed, popularly known as Gamji, said the group would mobilise supporters across the state from the local government and ward levels down to polling units.
Muhammed, a former Youth President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), said the group was mobilised by northern elders, former governors, former ministers and other prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We gathered today in Taraba State, in this big city of Takum, to mobilise at least 15,000 youth, women, students, elders and royal fathers to galvanise support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the state level, local government, ward level down to polling units. Man-to-man, house-to-house, room-to-room for Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
He commended Tinubu for what he described as his achievements and inclusive governance, while urging Nigerians in the North to support the President's bid for a second term.
According to Muhammed, Tinubu had supported northern presidential candidates in previous elections and deserved reciprocal support from the region.
“Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a universal figure; he is a nationalist. In Northern Nigeria, we owe Bola Ahmed Tinubu a plus; we owe him a second term,” he said.
He also cited the Federal Government's student loan programme, security interventions and infrastructure projects as reasons for the group's support for the President.
Muhammed said the group expected Tinubu, if re-elected, to prioritise national unity and fulfil his promises to Nigerians, particularly in addressing insecurity and completing ongoing development projects.
He also called on political leaders to avoid using religion, ethnicity and political differences to divide Nigerians.
“The Northern youth are with Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a Nigerian. Nobody is more than anybody, nobody is more Nigerian than anybody, nobody is more Arewa than anybody,” he said.
Muhammed further said the group intended to mobilise what he described as the highest number of votes ever recorded in Northern Nigeria for Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Also speaking, the A4A Secretary, Youth Affairs, Dunya Adi, appealed for continuity in government to enable the administration to complete ongoing projects.
Adi said the group was not opposed to other political aspirants but urged all parties to conduct their campaigns peacefully.
“We are not against them and we are not fighting them. We are campaigning peacefully as they go about their campaigns too. They should do it the way we are doing, peacefully,” he said.
He listed the Mambilla project, the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and the Sokoto-Illela road, among others, as projects he said should be completed by the administration.
Adi also highlighted the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), saying continued implementation would enable students already benefiting from the programme to complete their education.
On fuel subsidy, Adi criticised politicians advocating its return, arguing that the removal of subsidy had increased funds available to states for development. He specifically criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his position on the issue.
The APC Chairman in Takum Local Government Area, Hon. Sirajo Sallau, also expressed support for Tinubu, describing him as “the best President we have so far.”
“I know that Asiwaju is doing better, that's why we are for Asiwaju,” he said.
