Greenland University Appoints Prof. Ojo Fayomi as Pioneer Vice-Chancellor
Greenland University, Jalingo, Taraba State, has appointed Professor Ojo Sunday Isaac Fayomi as its first pioneer Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Fayomi, a distinguished academic and researcher, is currently the Dean of the College of Engineering and Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Unit in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor at Bells University of Technology, Ota, Nigeria.
An internationally recognised scholar, Professor Fayomi has built a strong reputation in the field of Mechanical Metallurgy of Materials and Production Technology, with significant contributions to research and development of new materials.
Born in Iyara, Kogi State, he obtained his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Metallurgical Engineering with distinction (Cum Laude) from the Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Environmental and Natural Resource Management from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye.
With a teaching and research career spanning over a decade, Professor Fayomi has been actively engaged in the academic environment since 2007, rising through the ranks to become a professor with notable global recognition. He has served as a visiting scholar in several universities within Nigeria and abroad.
The management of Greenland University expressed confidence in his capacity to provide visionary leadership for the institution, noting that his appointment is expected to strengthen academic excellence and institutional development.
According to the university, Professor Fayomi is expected to uphold and sustain the credibility of the Nigerian university system while advancing quality, access, and integrity in higher education, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.
