Wukari Muslim Group Endorses Gov Kefas, Yakubu Adamu for House of Reps

A prominent socio-political group, the Wukari Youths Muslim Forum, has endorsed Governor Agbu Kefas for a second term in office and Dr. Yakubu Adamu as its preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group, which comprises young Muslim professionals in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, made its position known in a statement delivered by its leader, Salihu S.K. Bello, who described Dr. Adamu as a symbol of emerging leadership with a strong track record in community service and development.

Bello said Dr. Adamu, through the Y.A.A Foundation, has made notable contributions in empowering youths and women, as well as supporting vulnerable groups across Wukari, stressing that his impact cuts across religious and community lines.

"Dr. Yakubu Adamu represents a new generation of leaders who combine professional excellence with a deep sense of social responsibility. His interventions have positively touched lives beyond the Muslim community," Bello said.

The forum also threw its weight behind Governor Kefas, citing what it described as tangible achievements in promoting peace, strengthening interfaith harmony, and executing infrastructural projects across the state.

According to the group, the governor's inclusive leadership style, including engagement with Muslim leaders during Sallah celebrations and outreach to less-privileged citizens through iftar programmes, demonstrates his commitment to religious tolerance and unity.

However, the group noted that its endorsement comes with concerns over what it termed the marginalization of the Wukari Muslim community in political appointments and representation.

The forum recalled that the last time a member of the community held a major political office was during the tenure  Senator Dalhatu Umar Sangari, who represented Taraba South in the National Assembly.

"We support Governor Kefas because of his performance, but we must also draw attention to the need for fair representation of the Wukari Muslim community in government," Bello added.

The group stressed that its continued support for the governor is closely tied to the emergence of Dr. Yakubu Adamu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives seat, noting that he remains the only aspirant from the Wukari Muslim community seeking the ticket.

It therefore called on the governor and party stakeholders to give Dr. Adamu the opportunity to contest, expressing confidence that he has the capacity to mobilize grassroots support across Muslim communities within the constituency.

The forum reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political participation and inclusive governance, emphasizing the need for unity, fairness, and development across Wukari and Ibi Federal Constituency.
