The Chairperson of the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB), Mrs. Christiana Taninga Binga, has been installed as the Naa of Kungana (Mother of Kungana) in a colourfulceremony held in Bali Local Government Area of the state.

The coronation, which took place during the 2026 PurumaFestival at the Gara Palace of His Royal Highness, Chief Theophilus Abubakar, drew a large crowd of dignitaries, traditional rulers, and community members from across the state.

The event was marked by rich cultural displays, as various dance groups showcased the heritage of the Chamba people and other ethnic groups in Bali, reflecting unity and tradition.

In her remarks, Mrs. Binga expressed deep appreciation to the Chief of Kungana and the entire community for the honourbestowed on her, describing it as a call to greater service.

She pledged to contribute meaningfully to the development of Kungana Chiefdom and promote unity among the people.

The TSUBEB chairperson also commended Governor AgbuKefas for his commitment to education, particularly the implementation of free education policies, which she said have significantly improved access to basic education in the state.

Speaking at the event, community leaders and well-wishers described the conferment of the title as well-deserved, citing Mrs. Binga’s contributions to education and community development.

The ceremony brought together sons and daughters of the Chamba nation, as well as other ethnic groups in Bali, in a celebration of culture, unity, and shared heritage.
