FedPoly Bali Is Student-Friendly – Rector

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Bali in Taraba State, Dr. Mohammed Usman, has described the institution as student-friendly, assuring newly admitted students of a conducive learning environment.

The Rector made the remark during a comprehensive orientation programme organised by the Students Affairs Division for newly admitted National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) students.

The event, held on April 8, 2026, at the Sen. Abubakar TutareAuditorium, was aimed at acquainting students with the institution’s culture, rules, and academic opportunities.

Represented by the Dean, School of Science, Dr. LamidiTajudeen Babatunde, the Rector congratulated the students on securing admission and urged them to remain disciplined and focused throughout their academic journey.

He noted that the orientation programme was designed to guide students on institutional expectations and commended the Students Affairs Division for organising the exercise.

In his remarks, the Registrar, Malam Mohammed TukurLamido, represented by Deputy Registrar Malam YunusaModibbo Jingi, emphasized that admission into the Polytechnic is a privilege that comes with responsibilities.

He warned against examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, indecent dressing, theft, and violence, while urging students to attend lectures regularly and actively participate in academic activities.

The Registrar also advised students to respect constituted authority, maintain proper communication channels, and familiarize themselves with the Students’ Handbook, noting that ignorance of institutional rules would not be accepted as an excuse.

Other speakers at the programme included the NDLEA representative, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I, MuktarIbrahim Bello, who sensitized students on the dangers of drug abuse.

The SERVICOM Focal Officer, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Baba, highlighted mechanisms for addressing students’ complaints, while the Polytechnic Librarian, Mr. Daniel Mathew Marke, represented by Mr. Raymond Andrew Waziri, introduced students to library services.

Also speaking, the Chief Nursing Officer, Malam BabangidaAliyu, educated students on the use of the institution’s clinic and the Tertiary Students Health Insurance Programme (TSHIP).

The Director of Works and Services, Engr. Dr. Mahmud Hussaini, urged students to protect institutional facilities, while the Chief Security Officer, Malam Abubakar Salihu Maisaje, stressed adherence to rules and proper conduct.

The Chief Coach, Alhaji Hassan Bila Tanko, encouraged participation in sports, highlighting competitions such as the Rector’s and Registrar’s Cups, as well as national events like NIPOGA.

In his presentation, the Director of Career Services, Dr. Abdulmaroof Adisa, advised students to plan their careers early and seek professional guidance.

The event also featured the swearing-in of newly elected Students’ Representative Council (SRC) executives by the Polytechnic Ombudsman, Barrister Nickson Lawi Abanyi.
