Gassol I Constituents Petition Gov Kefas Over Alleged Marginalisation

Concerned citizens of Gassol I Constituency in Taraba State have raised alarm over what they described as growing political marginalisation, calling on Governor Agbu Kefas to urgently intervene and restore balance in the distribution of political appointments.

In an open letter made available to journalists and signed by Malam Ali Gambo on behalf of the group, the constituents expressed concern that key political positions within GassolLocal Government Area are currently dominated by individuals from Gassol II Constituency.

According to the group, Gassol Local Government is made up of two constituencies—Gassol I and Gassol II—and there had been a long-standing understanding to ensure fairness, where one constituency produces a Commissioner while the other holds the position of Local Government Council Chairman.

The group, however, alleged that this arrangement has been disrupted, with both the Council Chairman and the Commissioner now coming from Gassol II.

They further noted that the Local Government Party Chairman and the Zonal Party Chairman are also from the same constituency, a situation they said has created imbalance and dissatisfaction among residents of Gassol I.

“We feel shortchanged and we need the intervention of His Excellency to ensure fairness and equity,” the letter stated.

While acknowledging Governor Kefas’ leadership style, which they described as accommodating and responsive, the group expressed confidence that the governor would address their concerns in the interest of justice and party unity.

They warned that failure to address the issue could lead to growing discontent and possibly push some members to seek alternative political platforms.

The group emphasized that the complaint was made in good faith and aimed at promoting fairness, unity, and the overall progress of the party and the state.
