Grand Reception as Aku Uka Marks 80th Birthday in Wukari

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has congratulated the Paramount Ruler of the Kwararafa Chiefdom, His Majesty, Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitswen, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

The colourful ceremony was held at the Aku Uka's Palace in Wukari town, Wukari Local Government Area of the state, attracting dignitaries from across Taraba and beyond.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government, Traditions and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Godfrey Dame Andrew, the governor prayed for long life and prosperity for the royal father, noting that his reign has remained a blessing to his people.

Kefas reaffirmed the state government's commitment to supporting traditional institutions, particularly in the areas of peace and security, which he described as critical to development.

"The state government will continue to work closely with traditional rulers to ensure peace and security across their domains. I urge them to sustain their support towards maintaining harmony among our people," he said.

Speaking in his capacity as Permanent Secretary, Andrew also assured traditional rulers of the administration's readiness to prioritise their welfare and strengthen collaboration with the institutions.

He called on residents to respect and heed the counsel of traditional rulers, stressing the need for peaceful coexistence.

"We are fortunate to have leaders of integrity as traditional rulers. As we celebrate our father at 80, we pray for the grace to attain such age in good health," he added.

In his remarks, the celebrant, Aku Uka, who also serves as Chairman of the Taraba State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, expressed appreciation to guests for honouring him with their presence.

He described the large turnout as overwhelming, noting that traditional rulers and dignitaries from various chiefdoms and kingdoms attended the event.

The monarch said the celebration was not only personal but also for the unity and progress of the Kwararafa Chiefdom and the people of Wukari, urging citizens to live in peace, obey the law, and support government policies.

Goodwill messages were delivered by several dignitaries, including Ayuba Zaku, representing Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, as well as representatives of religious and traditional bodies.

The event featured cultural displays and performances, particularly from the Jukun ethnic group, adding colour to the celebration.
