Baissa Stakeholders Mobilise Residents for Voter Registration, NIN in Kurmi LGA

Stakeholders from Baissa in Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State have embarked on a widespread mobilisationcampaign across Serti, Yalkum, Kpawola, Gidan Mamman and Baissa, sensitising residents on the importance of voter registration and the National Identification Number (NIN) exercise.

The outreach, which cut across communities in Baissa Ward, is aimed at increasing civic participation and encouraging residents to take advantage of ongoing registration processes as a means of promoting inclusive governance and national development.

Addressing participants during the exercise, the stakeholders emphasised the need for citizens to actively engage in the democratic process, noting that voter registration and NIN enrolment are critical tools for political inclusion and access to government services.

The mobilisation recorded impressive turnout across the communities visited, with men, women, youths and eldersgathering in large numbers to participate in the sensitisationsessions. The engagement featured interactive discussions, as residents listened to messages focused on civic responsibility, empowerment and community development.

Despite the difficult terrain, members of the mobilisation team traversed forests, crossed streams and navigated remote routes to reach underserved communities, demonstrating commitment to ensuring that no part of the area is left out of the awareness campaign.

As part of the exercise, the stakeholders also paid courtesy visits to traditional rulers, including the Kum Ndola of Kurmi, HRH Kumu Maikidi, the Hakimi of Baissa District, Kum AyubaMaikidi, and other district heads, to seek their support and collaboration in mobilising their subjects.

The tour climaxed at the Baissa Town Hall, popularly known as Tar Kum, where a large number of residents converged for an interactive session. Community members used the opportunity to express their concerns and expectations, while the stakeholders outlined plans aimed at strengthening civic engagement and fostering unity within the Ndola nation.

The initiative, observers say, reflects a growing awareness among the people of the area on the importance of participation in governance and access to national identity systems.

Stakeholders noted that the mobilisation marks a renewed commitment to grassroots sensitisation, civic education and inclusive development across Ndola communities.
