Sen. Haruna Manu Flags Off Ramadan Food Distribution in Taraba Central
The Senator representing Taraba Central, Haruna Manu, has flagged off the distribution of food items to his constituents ahead of the forthcoming Ramadan fasting period in Jalingo.
The event, held on Monday, attracted party supporters, community leaders and government officials from across the Taraba Central Senatorial District.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Director-General of the HarunaManu Senatorial Campaign Organisation, Mr. Simon InusaDogari, said the senator has remained consistent in fulfilling his campaign promises through humanitarian interventions, particularly during the Ramadan season.
Dogari noted that since his time as a member of the House of Assembly, Senator Manu has sustained the tradition of distributing food items including rice, maize, guinea corn and bags of sugar to ease the burden on families during the fasting period. He described the initiative as a reflection of the senator's people-oriented leadership and urged other public office holders to emulate the gesture.
He also appealed to residents of Taraba Central to renew the senator's mandate in 2027, saying this would enable him to continue delivering democratic dividends to the people. Dogarifurther called on the people to continue praying for the state and supporting the government.
In his remarks, Alhaji Shaibu Kurmi commended Senator Manu for making food distribution a regular feature during festive periods to cushion the effects of economic hardship on the people. He urged leaders at all levels to always remember their constituents and encouraged continued support for the senator to enable him do more.
Also speaking, Alhaji Mohammed Gassol described access to food as a major challenge facing many households, noting that Senator Manu has consistently intervened during difficult times. He said the Ramadan distribution was one of several initiatives by the senator and encouraged him to sustain the gesture.
The Chairman of Gashaka Local Government Area, Hon. Umar Yusuf, who was also present, said he has witnessed what he described as visible dividends of democracy delivered by the senator to the Central Zone. He stressed that the food distribution was not a one-off event but a recurring effort aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
Yusuf called on residents to continue supporting Senator Manu, noting that his interventions align with the development agenda of Governor Agbu Kefas for Taraba State.
