Gov Kefas, NPA MD, Others Commend Sheikh Bala Lau for Establishing Nursing College in Lau

Prominent government officials, religious leaders and stakeholders have commended the National Chairman of Jama'atu Izalatil Bid'ah Wa IqamatisSunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Imam Abdullahi Bala Lau, for his far-reaching contributions to education and community development, with particular praise for his establishment of the AB Na'ibi College of Nursing Sciences in Lau, Taraba State.

The commendations were made during a series of events held in Lau and Jalingo, including the Qur'anic graduation (Walima) of Na'ibi Academy Littahafizil Qur'ani and the maiden matriculation ceremony of the nursing college, which many speakers described as a timely intervention that would significantly strengthen healthcare manpower and service delivery in the state.

The Alumni Association of Na'ibi Academy LittahafizilQur'ani, which organised a special ceremony in honour of Sheikh Bala Lau, described him as a rare leader whose vision for education goes beyond religious instruction to include professional and technical training capable of addressing critical societal needs. The alumni said the establishment of the nursing college in Lau reflects the cleric's deep understanding of the linkage between education, health and sustainable development.

They recalled that Sheikh Bala Lau has, over the years, sponsored the education of numerous students at no cost, providing access to both Qur'anic and modern education within a structured and disciplined environment. According to them, this holistic approach has helped shape their lives and laid a solid foundation for their successes in various fields.

The alumni further noted that what distinguishes Sheikh BalaLau's efforts is the sincerity and religious commitment with which he carries out his work, stressing that his initiatives are driven by a desire to uplift society rather than by the pursuit of praise or personal gain. They offered prayers for God's continued blessings, good health and long life for the JIBWIS leader, describing his investments in education as investments in society as a whole.

On behalf of the students, former Minister of Transportation, Mu'azu Jaji Sambo, presented an Award of Excellence to Sheikh Bala Lau in recognition of his leadership and contributions to Islamic propagation, Qur'anic education and community development at the first-year Qur'an memorisation graduation ceremony of Na'ibi Academy in Lau.

 

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, also lauded Sheikh BalaLau for establishing the AB Na'ibi College of Nursing Sciences, describing it as a complementary effort that aligns with the state government's commitment to improving education and strengthening the health sector. Speaking at the maiden matriculation ceremony of the college, the governor donated an 18-seater bus to the institution and pledged to construct a block of hostel accommodation.

Governor Kefas further announced that the state government, in collaboration with Lau Local Government Area, would rehabilitate the access road leading to the college to support its growth and long-term vision. He reiterated that education remains a strong pillar of his administration, with ongoing reforms focused on quality, standards and sustainability across educational institutions in Taraba State.

 

 

According to the governor, the nursing college would play a vital role in producing skilled healthcare professionals needed to improve service delivery across the state. He congratulated the newly admitted students and urged them to remain focused and committed to their studies to justify the confidence placed in them by their parents, the institution and the government. 

Earlier, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau expressed optimism that the college would make a lasting impact on Taraba State's health sector, stressing that the institution is committed to training students with compassion, professionalism and integrity. He described the establishment of the college as his modest contribution to the development and progress of Taraba State and commended Governor Kefas for honouring the invitation to the event.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, who attended the Walima alongside friends and associates, also praised Sheikh Bala Lau's educational initiatives, noting that the nursing college and Qur'anic institutions demonstrate how faith-based leadership can drive tangible development. Dr Dantsoho donated ₦20 million to support the Tsangaya Qur'anic school and encouraged the students to remain steadfast in their pursuit of knowledge.

Dr. Dantsoho also praised the National Chairman of JIBWIS, Dr. Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, for establishing the institution as a pillar of community development, and pledged support toward the construction of a facility within the school to advance education and development in Taraba State.

The event attracted a large turnout of dignitaries, including former governor Jolly Nyame, the Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area, Hon. Nura Dantsoho, who delivered a vote of thanks. He expressed pride in Sheikh BalaLau's enduring contributions to Islamic education, healthcare training and community development, praying for God's abundant rewards for him and all those who supported the initiatives.

Observers noted that the establishment of the AB Na'ibi College of Nursing Sciences in Lau stands as a landmark achievement that will not only expand access to quality nursing education but also contribute significantly to addressing healthcare workforce gaps in Taraba State and beyond.
