Governor Kefas Appoints Dr. Abubakar Hamidu Kara as MD/CEO of Mambila Beverages Taraba State

Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has approved the appointment of Dr. Abubakar Hamidu Kara as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Mambila Beverages Nigeria Limited, producers of the popular Highland Tea. The appointment is part of the state government's ongoing efforts to reposition its key commercial enterprises for improved productivity, efficiency, and economic sustainability. In a statement following his appointment, Dr. Kara expressed profound gratitude to Governor Kefas for the confidence reposed in him, describing the opportunity as a rare privilege and an honour to serve. He assured the governor and people of Taraba State of his commitment to ensuring the steady growth and development of the tea company under the present administration. Dr. Kara also thanked the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State (SGS), Chief Barrister G.T. Kataps, who doubles as the Chairman of the Board of Mambila Beverages Nigeria Limited, as well as members of the Board, for their trust and support. He appealed for continued cooperation to enable him succeed in the task ahead. He further acknowledged the Taraba State House of Assembly, singling out the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah, and Honourable Members Nelson C. Len and Abdulazeez S. Titong, alongside members of the State Executive Council, including Hon. Peter George and Hon. Gideon Nonso Mbaso, for their goodwill. The newly appointed MD/CEO also extended appreciation to notable political leaders, traditional rulers, and stakeholders across the Mambilla Plateau and beyond, including royal fathers and community leaders, for their prayers and support. He noted that the collective goodwill of the people would be critical to achieving the company's mandate. Dr. Kara, a seasoned academic and professional with expertise in farm management and production economics, said his appointment aligns with his passion for agriculture-based enterprise development. He pledged to deploy his experience toward strengthening Mambila Beverages as a viable state-owned enterprise capable of contributing meaningfully to Taraba State's economy. He concluded by soliciting prayers and continued support from the people of the state as he begins what he described as a stewardship in service to Taraba State. Dr. Abubakar Hamidu Kara holds B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership Studies (FILS), among other professional affiliations.
