Police Warn Troublemakers, Promise Safe, Peaceful LG Polls

 

As Taraba State prepares for the November 8 Local Government Elections, the State Police Command has assured residents of watertight security before, during, and after the polls.

In a statement issued to journalists, Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, said the Command has concluded arrangements to deploy personnel to all polling units, collation centres and flashpoint communities across the 16 local government areas of the state.

CP Otimenyin said officers have been directed to conduct themselves with the highest level of professionalism while remaining vigilant and proactive in preventing any attempt to disrupt the electoral process.

"The safety of citizens is our priority," she said. "We are fully prepared to tackle any security challenge and ensure that every eligible voter exercises their civic right in peace and confidence."

She warned individuals or groups planning to instigate violence to reconsider, insisting that the police will not hesitate to deal decisively with electoral offenders.

"We are watching closely. Anyone attempting to cause chaos will face the full weight of the law. There will be no compromise," she added.

The Commissioner appealed to residents to cooperate with security personnel and abide by electoral guidelines. She encouraged the public to report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.

"If you see something, say something," the statement read.

CP Otimenyin further urged citizens to conduct themselves peacefully and ensure the election becomes a model of democracy and unity in Taraba State.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the election period and beyond, assuring the public that no voter, official or observer has anything to fear.
