Hundreds Benefit As NPA MD Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho Brings Free Healthcare Services to Jalingo Residents
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Garba Dantsoho, has launched a comprehensive medical outreach in Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State, promising to extend the intervention to all 16 local government areas of the state.
The outreach, which held on Saturday at Kofan Gidan Alhaji Ali Jen in Sintali Ward, is part of the NPA's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at providing healthcare relief to vulnerable and less-privileged communities.
Represented at the event by Hon. Nura Dantsoho, the NPA boss said the intervention was designed to tackle prevalent health challenges and reduce the burden of preventable diseases in rural and urban areas alike.
"Our target is to bring medical succor to indigent residents who may not afford quality healthcare services. This outreach will cover conditions such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, Diabetes, Hypertension, Malaria, Typhoid, and Tuberculosis among others. We have mobilized qualified doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other health professionals to ensure no one is left behind," Dantsoho assured.
He further disclosed that adequate medical consumables, testing kits, mosquito nets, and assorted drugs were provided to guarantee a hitch-free exercise.
The outreach offered a wide range of free medical services, including consultations, laboratory testing, drugs, counseling, antenatal care, genotype screening, blood pressure checks, mass deworming for children, and distribution of mosquito nets.
Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council, Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan, described the gesture as unprecedented in the history of the council.
"This is the first time we are witnessing such a massive and organized medical intervention in Jalingo. I commend Dr. Dantsoho for bringing this to our people and I call on other illustrious sons and daughters of Taraba in leadership positions to emulate this example," Hassan said.
