Donga Group Demands Reps Ticket forTakum/Donga/Ussa Federal Constituency in 2027

  A coalition of youths and women groups in Donga Local Government Area has called on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure that the House of Representatives ticket for Takum/Donga/Ussa Federal Constituency returns to Donga in the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed by Mr. Job Tyungu for the youths and Miss Hajara Adamu for the women, the coalition said political fairness and balance demand that the seat be zoned back to Donga, following an established rotational arrangement among the three local governments.

According to the group, the zoning sequence has historically followed a clear pattern: Donga (1999–2007), Takum (2007–2015), and Ussa (2015–2023). By this arrangement, the coalition argued, Donga should have produced the representative in 2023.

The statement noted that the current situation, where Takum holds both the Senate and House of Representatives seats, may be lawful but undermines equity and threatens the political harmony the three local governments have maintained over the years.

"As leaders known for fairness and inclusivity, we appeal to the conscience of the PDP to correct this imbalance in 2027," the coalition said. "Donga deserves the House of Representatives seat, and restoring this balance will strengthen trust, equity, and peaceful coexistence in our constituency."

The group reaffirmed its loyalty to the PDP but urged the party to uphold the principles of justice and inclusiveness in order to sustain unity within the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
