PDP Set to Reclaim Karim 1 Seat Ahead of August 16 Bye-Election

As preparations intensify for the forthcoming bye-election scheduled for August 16, the PeoplesDemocratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has declared its full readiness to reclaim the Karim 1 State Constituency seat in the Taraba State House of Assembly.

Addressing journalists during a press briefing at the party's state secretariat in Jalingo, the PDP Publicity Secretary, Hon. Andeta'Rang Irammae, said the party is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to secure victory in the upcoming poll.

He noted that the PDP has made significant strides in its preparations, citing the high level of cooperation and unity among key stakeholders as a major boost to their efforts.

"We are confident because of the unity we're witnessing among party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters. Everyone is committed to delivering victory in Karim 1," Irammae said.

According to him, strong support from stakeholders within the constituency was instrumental in the party's decision to present Hon. Ali Akanda as its consensus candidate for the bye-election.

He revealed that on July 21, the PDP conducted its primary election in strict adherence to the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), during which Hon. Akanda was formally affirmed as the party's flagbearer.

Highlighting the PDP's commitment to internal democracy, Irammae emphasized that the party remains guided by principles of transparency and inclusiveness.

"The PDP is a party rooted in democratic values. We do not impose candidates, and we do not manipulate processes. We allow the people to choose who they want, and that's exactly what we've done in Karim 1," he added.

Irammae concluded by saying that the party will kick off a comprehensive grassroots campaign once INEC completes its screening process. He expressed confidence that the people of Karim 1 will once again throw their support behind the PDP, as they have consistently done since 1999.
