Senator Shuaibu Lau Donates Relief Materials To Victims Of Karim Lamido Crisis

  

 

The Senator representing Taraba North, Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau, has donated relief materials to victims of the recent farmer-herder crisis in Bandawa, Munga Lelau, and Munga Doso communities in Karim Lamido Local Government

The relief items were distributed to internally displaced persons (IDPs) currently taking refuge in Munga Lelau.

Represented by his legislative aide, Honourable Gidado Aminu, who led the delegation to the affected communities, Senator Lau expressed deep concern over the crisis. He extended his condolences to the victims and assured them of his unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the area.

The senator disclosed that he had already contacted the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to mobilize further support for the affected communities.

The relief items donated include:30 mattresses; 400 mats; 20 bags of rice;20 cartons of spaghetti; 500 blankets among others.

Speaking during the distribution, Honourable Oliver Sulaiman, Commissioner One at the Local Government Service Commission and a native of Bandawa, commended the senator for his prompt and consistent response to the needs of his constituents.

In a similar vein, Honourable Markus Hamidu, popularly known as Garkuwan Bambuka, called on other political leaders to emulate Senator Lau's compassionate and responsive leadership. He also urged citizens to support and vote for leaders who genuinely represent their interests.

Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, the National President of Munga, Shama Wasa Isreal, and the National President of the Bigwen Community, Comrade Vincent Sani, expressed deep appreciation to the senator for his timely intervention and consistent support. They also advocated for peace and unity among the communities.

Both leaders appealed for the deployment of more security personnel and requested support in the form of farming inputs to help affected families rebuild their lives and livelihoods.

The Village Head of Munga Lelau, Peter Besse, described his people as peace-loving and law-abiding. He echoed calls for enhanced security presence in the area and offered prayers for the return of lasting peace.
