Taraba Yet to Receive Federal Government's Rice Allocation
The Taraba State government has claimed it is yet to receive the 20 trucks of rice promised by the federal government to alleviate hunger in the country.
The state's Commissioner for Information and Re-Orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, said the state is still awaiting the promised food items. She explained that the Commissioner for Special Duties, Saviour Noku, who is responsible for receiving the food items, has not received any communication from the federal government regarding the rice allocation.
The commissioner clarified that the rice distributed to protesting youths by Governor Agbu Kefas was not part of the federal government's allocation but rather from the state's ALGON, which had purchased the grains and stored them before the distribution.
The state government's statement comes amid growing concerns over food shortages and rising prices across the country.
