Principals Selling WAEC Slots Will Be Punished- Education Commissioner

The Taraba State Commissioner for Education, Dr Augustina Godwin, has threatened to penalize Principals over an alledged selling of WAEC slots in government owned Secondary Schools, thereby sabotaging the free education policy of the Taraba state government.

The Commissioner in press statement, stated that the affected Principals will be sanctioned after relevant investigations and evidence is completed.

"I have reliably gathered information on the selling of waec slots going on by most Principals. The penalty for this action will reach them when the collection of all relevant evidences are completed".

She called on Principals in the state who are yet to submit necessary requirements for registration of students to do so as soon as possible.

"Let all the Principals that have not yet submitted and carried out all that is expected of them for the preparation of BECE registration to do so immediately. I will call the Director of ERC for update on Monday".

The Education Commissioner, however commended the efforts of some principals in the Taraba state education system, while urging them not to relent in the process of carrying out their official duties.
She acknowledged the difficulty as a result as a result of attacks and threats from parents and community members, during the process of WAEC registration exercise, saying the state government is going to support, and defend them throughout the process.
