‘In Few Years, Taraba Will Be A Different Place’, Gen TY Danjuma Preaches Peace At Hospital Inauguration In Takum

Elder statesman, Retired Lieutenant General Theophilus Danjuma has said Taraba state will be a different place in few years' time, calling on citizens to embrace change and collectively take the right actions that will ensure peace in the state and country.

Danjuma speaking during the inauguration of Daisy Danjuma Ultra-Modern Eye Hospital constructed by the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation in Takum, Taraba State said Taraba is well endowed by nature and stressed the need for peaceful coexistence among the populace in order to attract investors to the state.
He said, "Nigeria is the most important Black country in the world; people look up to us but right now, we are not behaving as leaders that we are, as a nation, we must change, it is time for us to change.

"And we must have peace in our land so the young men and women will not be running away to other places looking for jobs. There are no jobs anywhere outside here, in our country; they go abroad and suffer there.

"And there is nowhere in the world where the black man can have the quality of life you can get in this country. If only we do the right thing and doing the right thing is getting to ensure that there is peace."

Speaking on the infrastructural improvement, ICT training, and attitudinal change to drive progress in the state and nation, he added, "Secondly to train our people and we cannot train people who do not go to school, and they will go to school only when there are teachers, teachers who are paid regularly.

"In the next few years Taraba State will be a different place, our state is very well endowed by nature with gold and rainfall and plenty of minerals to provide jobs for our people and invest in our land. May God bless our governors, traditional rulers and all the people who are helping to keep us together."

Speaking at the ceremony in Takum, Taraba state Governor Dr Agbu Kefas thanked Retired Gen. Theophilus Danjuma for developmental initiatives in the state.
Commissioning the eye hospital, Dr Agbu Kefas said the contributions of General TY Danjuma to the progress and development of Taraba state are numerous and impactful.

He said General TY Danjuma has touched the lives of many across Nigeria in a positive way and manner.

Highlighting the significance of the Sen. Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital Takum as a huge achievement, Governor Agbu Kefas noted that the just commissioned eye hospital will provide essential services to the communities in the state and urged the people to patronize and safeguard the facilities

A Trustee of the TY Danjuma foundation, Dr Ugo Okoli, said the hospital will provide most advanced eye care services to the people even as she noted that the TY Danjuma foundation has been impacting lives across the country.

The Country Director, Development Africa, Mr Joshua Campeneer said the eye hospital is an extension of TY Danjuma foundation's medical center and health services and that so far it has been in operation in the last three months with various services so far rendered at a highly subsidized rates.

On her path, the National Coordinator, National Eye health programmes, Dr Oten Okolo, described the Senator Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital as a beacon of hope to those who need eye services and added that the national eye health programme is delighted with the hospital.
