Taraba NUT Bounce Back, As Gov Kefas Clears 18 Months Salary Withheld By Ex Gov Ishaku

The Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT in Taraba State has bounced back to life following the payment of its staff eighteen months salary which was stopped by the immediate past Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku after a leadership crisis rocked the union.

The former governor had stopped the salaries of 13 leaders and staff of the union on the allegations that members of the Union had insulted him and failed to vote for his 'anointed candidate' as chairman in 2021.

The then governor also went ahead to divide teachers in the state by supporting the creation of Association of Basic Education Teachers ASBET to take over the NUT.

Taraba Truth and Facts gathered that Governor Agbu Kefas had paid the withheld salary after he took over leadership of the state.

The State NUT Chairman, Comrade Nathan Solomon confirmed that the 18 months' salary has been paid to him and 12 others affected by the stoppage.

"Governor Agbu Kefas  has paid us all the salaries we were denied by former Governor Ishaku for 18 months and the NUT is now one in Taraba State. No more Governor Darius' Association of Basic Education Teachers ASBET.

"In a way, we were growing fatter when we were under Governor Darius' discipline. So Many people took it upon themselves to assist us throughout the period. We most sincerely appreciate God for this experience but we pray that it doesn't happen to any teacher in Taraba State because it is not everybody that can withstand such a challenge". He added

Comr. Nathan further applauded Governor Kefas for his readiness to implement the minimum wage of workers in the state in October this year, saying that the Governor has already distinguished himself by demonstrating beyond every reasonable doubt that he is truly a leader called by God to serve the people of Taraba State in the few months that he assumed his office as the Executive Governor of the State

He called on the teachers in the state who were frustrated by the poor leadership of the previous government to wake up and reciprocate Governor Agbu's kind gesture by living up to their responsibilities so as to gain more blessings from his leadership style.
