‘Why Mumuye Should Not Contest Jalingo Yorro Zing Bye Election’

 

 

The Mumuye Nation have been urged to support Jalingo local government to produce the next member to represent Jalingo Yorro Zing Federal Constituency.

 

The Jalingo PDP Leaders Forum said the Mumuye nation have produced Deputy Governor and Speaker of the State Assembly, it's only fair that the next federal lawmaker should come from Jalingo for equal representation of the people in political office.

 

The Forum Chairman, Yakubu Ezekiel Kona said some politicians in PDP from Mumuye extractions are contesting for the party's ticket to create confusion within the PDP structure and jeopardize the chances of the party at winning the election.

  "We are calling on our Mumuye brothers to show political understanding that the people of Jalingo have always supported them during elections, lets also recall that Jalingo PDP delegates voted massively for Dr David Ishaya Kassa during the last Senatorial primary election of the PDP. We voted the PDP massively during the elections and supported the emergence of Hon John Kizito Bonzena as Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly," Yakubu Ezekiel Kona said

 

The Jalingo PDP Leaders Forum said the sharing of political offices by the PDP had moved the ticket of Jalingo Yorro Zing Federal Constituency to Jalingo Local Government before the unfortunate death of late member elect Hon. Ismaila Yusha'u Maihanchi and the formula should be sustained since it produced positive result for the party.

 

"Since the late member elect was from Jalingo, it was based on that permutation that the Deputy Governor was zoned to the Mumuyes which produced erudite Alhaji Aminu Alkali, the people of Jalingo were also interested in the Deputy Governorship slot of the state, they conceded to the Mumuye because they were producing the candidate for Jalingo Yorro Zing during the last election.

"We are calling on all aspirants in the PDP from Yorro and Zing Local Governments to step down and withdraw from the race to support the people of Jalingo to produce a candidate for the election.

 "We are aware that the Mumuye is promised to produce Senator for Taraba North in 2027, if stakeholders have had this understanding before last election, the Mumuye should naturally support the people of Jalingo to produce the PDP candidate for the next bye election," Yakubu Ezekiel Kona said.
