The Life And Times Of Hon Ismaila Maihanci Yushau

Born 36 years ago in the historic city of Jalingo, Ismaila was born into the illustrious and highly Industrious Maihanci family that are renowned for their enterprise and creative spirit.

 

Trained in the finest traditions of the Fulani people that is deeply rooted in Islam, Hon Maihanci acquired both his primary and secondary education in Jalingo and was also enrolled in the normal Islammiya evening classes where he gained substantial knowledge of Islam.

 

Driven by his passion for western education Hon Maihanci proceeded to the famous College for legal studies, Yola, where he acquired his Diploma in laws with special bias for Shariah.

 

Not resting on his oars Maihanci again secured admission at the Taraba state University Jalingo where he bagged his Bachelors of arts degree in Islamic Studies graduating with Honours. 

 

The late politician capped his educational voyage with a Masters of Arts degree in Leadership Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, a move that has been largely seen as an attempt to horn his leadership and public service skills.

 

Maihanci was an institution in the political arena having started his career from the grassroots as the ward secretary of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at a very tender age.

 

His early participation in politics will however set the tone for his larger political accomplishments as he gradually came closer to Taraba's then first family during the reign of then Governor Danbaba Suntai. 

The Political upheavals that greeted Taraba when Late Governor Danbaba Suntia was involved in a plane crash during his second term will see Ismaila Maihanci pitching his tent with the Cabal political group that fought the then Acting Governor Garba Umar UTC to a standstill untill the supreme court judgement that voided UTC's appointment as the state's deputy governor thereby reinstating Sani Abubakar Danladi.

 

Sani Danladi alias contact will soon appoint Maihanci as one of his Special Advisers thus opening the floodgate of Maihanci's inclusion in mainstream governance at the state level. He will later be appointed to the same portfolio twice by outgoing governor Darius Dickson Ishaku where he brought to bare capacity and capability in the discharge of his functions. 

 

Maihanci in the run up to the 2023 federal Parliamentary elections declared his intention to run for the seat of Member House of Representatives where he went further to defeat other prominent politicians in the primaries of the PDP including a former commissioner for Youths and Sports Honourable Ibrahim Imam. 

 

He will later go ahead to Upstage the incumbent Lawmaker representing the Constituency who flew the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Kassimu Bello Maigari and Hon Suleiman Bakari of the New Nigerian People's Party (NNPP) who is a former liaison officer of the Economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC) at the National Assembly.

 

The hard won victory has been described as a watershed in the annals of electioneering in the federal Constituency as he won in all the three Local Government areas that make up the Constituency, A development that has been described by political watchers as the first of it kind.

 

Hon Ismaila Maihanci Yushau is a recipient of several honours and awards from various institutions including students groups, civil society organizations, religious and professional bodies. Maihanci who is also a bussiness mogul has interests spanning the financial services sector, real estate, oil and gas and Automobiles. 

 

Maihanci also holds the traditional title of Dan Malikin Zing, Dan Iyan Sintali, Dallatun Old Muri and Kauran Gashaka.The widely traveled Hon Ismaila Maihanci will be fondly remembered for his Philantrophic disposition, love for people, and his Humane nature.
