Flood Damages Ibi-Wukari Water Treatment Plant

The Ibi-Wukari Water Treatment Plant Intake located by Benue River bank at Ibi local government area have been submerged by flood..

An official of Taraba State Water and Sewerage corporation (TAWASCO) said this flood took over the water treatment plant  after all efforts to stop the flood from getting inside failed due the increase in water.

 

The official said incident has translated  to loss of Millions of Naira that would be expended to revamp the plant.

 

The equipment, machines and installations in this building have to be completely serviced and overhauled to make them functional again. This is the second experience after the one in mid 20s. Only Jalingo and Ibi - Wukari water treatment plants are operational in the state. The remaining 12 water treatment plants are either grounded due to broken down machines and equipment or in some cases, not operational due to lack of operation inputs.
