2023: Takum Traditional Rulers Endorse Gov Ishaku For Senate




Traditional rulers in Takum Local Government area of Taraba State has urged Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku to contest for senator representing Southern zone in the next election, saying he's qualified to represent the area in the National Assembly.

The Traditional rulers said the Governor has their backing to contest in 2023.

The Gara Chanchanji Abdulhamid Yebseya Kumbyera spoke alongside other royal fathers when the Governor visited the ongoing construction Chanchanji bridge to access the level of the project recently.  

The Traditional ruler further pledged their total support to the government of Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku, while calling on him to come and contest for Southern senatorial seat in forthcoming election of 2023.

"On behalf of all Chiefs in Takum we are praying for you to successfully end your tenure as our Governor and come and serve us as Senator in 2023. You have fulfilled your campaign promise of building Takum bridge, we want you to do more."  

Chairman Takum Local Government Council Hon. Prince Shiban Tikari on his part said many residents of the local government particularly members of the PDP are fully in support of Governor Darius Ishaku going to the senate in 2023.

A political leader in Takum and Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon Ahijo Musa said the endorsement from the traditional rulers has shown that the Governor is well accepted and loved by the people of Takum.

Hon Ahijo Musa said the political leaders and elders across the local government would align with the traditional rulers to ensure the Governor is elected into the National Assembly comes 2023.

"The Statement made by the traditional rulers show the level of acceptance the Governor commanded in his homestead. The people of Takum would be at the front to push for the Governor's candidacy for Senate in 2023, he's eminently qualified to represent the Southern Zone in the National Assembly, we are proud of how he has brought peace to once troubled Southern Zone, our people now have peace and they could see what he has done in the Southern zone, the traditional rulers are very right to ask him to contest for Senate, they spoke the minds of their people."

Recall that a former senator and ex-minister of Labour from Southern Taraba, Joel Danlami Ikenya, at the occasion of the Governor's 67th birthday party announce that Gov. Ishaku, who has served as State Minister for Power and Environment and Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs before becoming governor in 2015 has also earned Taraba South's senate endorsement towards the coming 2023 elections.
