#FixUssaRoad: Residents Deplore Bad State of Roads in Ussa

Residents of Ussa local government council of Taraba state  especially vehicle owners plying the popular Takum/Limsa roads have continued to lament the poor condition of the roads in the area.

 The residents, who spoke with Taraba Truth and Fact said the bad state of the roads had caused them untold hardship.

 They explained that the roads were part of major routes that had been neglected by the state government.

 Stressing how the  bad state of the roads had caused them losses in many ways and as well prevented them from connecting other parts of the state, the government , as suggested by them , should fashion out plans of attending to the plights of the council.

 A resident of the area Andre Yusuf , who expressed sadness at the deplorable condition of the road,  said "It is disheartening that we still have to be crying for help from the government over this road" adding that  "the road is so bad that motorists no longer ply the route just to avoid damage to their vehicles."

 Another resident who said they are aware that the state government is claiming to have award the contract of the road for construction , urged the people to disbelief it adding that "it is a lie."

 Commercial drivers and other users of the road who also spoke with our correspondent , lamented the hardship they are experiencing on daily bases due to the bad state of the road.

  The  bad state of the road according to Usman Salihu , a driver who claimed to have being plying the road for over a decade, said the road does  not only lead to the breakdown of their vehicles, but also facilitate the falling of trucks.

 The situation of the said road however became worse following the recent flood disaster that did not only submerged the road but also washed away several communities of the council.

 The said road, when visited, was observed to have been riddled with potholes filled with muddy water which is as well making it difficult bother vehicles and pedestrians to maneuver   .

  Narrating how he was laid off by his employer simply because his truck fell down on the road Ataki Saleh , said the road has been in such condition for the past fifteen years.

 Also adding his voice to that of his people, the member representing Ussa constituencies at the state House of Assembly ,Habila Anderufu, said the road has indeed make growth to elude the council.

  Calling  on the governor   to as a matter of urgency, direct the state Road Construction and Maintenance Agency to commence works on the road, the lawmaker also expressed sadness at the way and manner the council has been relegated to the background.  

 The road if rehabilitated, he said would not only ease the movement of vehicles and passengers in and out of the area, but as well ignite business activities. 

 Believing that the governor who he described as a man that have listening ears will soon attend to the plight of the people by giving the road a facelift, the need for the people not to cease from throwing their weights in support of the government, he believed can no longer be overemphasized.
