COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF AN EMERGENCY MEETING BY THE KAKA YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

The Kaka Youth Development Association, a pan-Kaka socio/cultural organization issued a Communiqué on Saturday 17th April 2021 at Jalingo, condemning the avalanche of petitions and counter-petitions making the rounds across the public domain, particularly on social media and the indigenous Taraba Truth and Facts Newspaper.

Noting that the Kaka ethnic nationality has been plunged into utter darkness owing to the disagreement by some warring factions among elderly members of the tribe; and cognizant of the dent as well as the blow that this scandalous saga has dealt on the noble image and reputation of the Kaka race, the KYDA resolved at the emergency meeting as follows:

1. That the youths feel highly disappointed by the unruly disposition of all those behind the petition and counter-petitions which has made the Kaka ethnic nationality a laughing stock among its neighbors across Taraba State, and Nigeria as a whole.

2. That the Kaka youths as future leaders and beacon of hope for the Kaka people, condemn this trending ugly resort to self-destruction and cannibalistic tendency which has degenerated further into a monumental, national disgrace.

3. That the youth body remain united, indivisible, and committed to the cause of fostering unity, peace and progress among the Kaka race as one people nationwide, irrespective of clannish, political or religious differences.

4. That we dissociate and distance ourselves from every form or manifestations of primordial, clannish, and factional sentiments that had hitherto bedeviled the Kaka people, to the extent of its current abysmal degeneration as evidenced by the trending divisive, discriminatory, and incriminating petitions and counter-petitions circulating in the public space.

5. That we recognize every Kaka indigene who has complied with the requirement of citizenship acquisition as a bonafide citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in line with relevant constitutional provisions, extant laws of the Federation of Nigeria, and International Law.

6. That the Kaka youths reaffirmed and reactivated  the symbolic Peace Accord  signed and sealed at the historic Kaka Summit of 11/11/1998, presided over by the Kaka Council of Chief (Traditional Rulers ) under the chairmanship of Late Nkum Lawrence Ganchok Chenor Sakaka using our traditional objects as a symbol of oneness among the KAKA people in Nigeria; thus the youths held unto same peace accord with a representative from each clan constituting the Kaka tribe.

7. That a Peace and Reconciliation Committee was constituted at the meeting with the terms of reference to embark on a fact-finding mission to determine the root causes of the lingering problem, with a view to making recommendations for adoption in proffering lasting solution to the quagmire through dialogue, mediation and reconciliation of the warring factions.

8. That we condemn the overzealous and criminal tendency of some Immigration Officers stationed along the Bali-Gembu federal highway, who always intimidate, harass, embarrass, and exploit some Kaka people on the basis of misinformation about their citizenship status as mentioned in paragraph 8 above. We therefore demand that the authorities concerned should henceforth desist from such illegal and unconstitutional  incompetent acts, which constitutes fragrant violation of the fundamental freedoms and liberties of our law abiding Kaka citizens of this great Country.

9.That we place a demand on the National Assembly in it's current constitutional amendment efforts, to include Plebiscite as one of the means of acquiring citizenship in Nigeria, as that will cure the cheap blackmail often resorted to by referring to some bonafide clans of the Kaka extraction as foreigners on false and defamatory grounds.

10. That we remain law abiding citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while pledging our loyalty and total support for our amiable Governor, Arch Darius Ishaku Dickson, and respect for the traditional institutions, particularly the KAKA, MBAMNGA, MAMBILLA, KAMKAM, KABRI, KUMA and NGUROJE CHIEFDOMS, the entire KAKA elders.

KYDA all agreed and make this "APPEAL " to the aforesaid Authorized  to draw attention of the  leadership of this Association where either of it members or any person (s) parading in the  name of KAKA youth to cause sentiment and disunity among us to distract the peaceful coexistence of the people on the Mambilla plateau for proper disciplinary action to lawful Authority.

God bless the Kaka ethnic nationality!

God bless Taraba State!!

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
