Why ‘Ruga’ is coming to Takum’


Officials of the Taraba State government has given reason for the establishment of a   modern Ranching and livestock training center in kunkunu, along Takum- Wukari road Takum local government area.

 

  Speaking at a sensitization programme for  stakeholders from the community,  Commissioner for Lands and Survey Gambo Ndafor said government has deemed it necessary to bring the modern ranching to the people of southern zone to boast its economy.

 

Declaring the sensitization open at the Government Lodge Takum Ndafor said the people of the area will benefit from the modern ranching because it allows them to key into the business value chain.

 

He added that the government is not taking over lands and hand over to hearders as been speculated on social media stressing that government decision of siting the project in Takum will benefits the people of the area.

  On his part the Permanent secretary of the ministry Aboki Philemon Zakari assured the beneficiaries that government will pay compensations of lands acquired at the area calling on them to give maximum corporation for the full implementation of the project.

  In his  welcoming address the chairman Takum local government Shiban Tikari commended the state government for  the initiative and promise to key into the program for actualization.

   He debunked rumor saying government may give the land in the area to foreigners saying the project will bring about positive development in the area.

   He  called on the people of the area to embrace the initiative and live in peace for the development of the area.

 Presenting a  paper at occasion the deputy director livestock ministry of Agriculture and natural Resources, Hanania Gowon Albert said the aim and objective of the project is to transfer technological knowledge to local farmers in the state, create jobs attained food security and improve livelihoods along livestock value chain.

   He said development Pasture and supplementary feed that will sustain ranches and improve genetic potential of local breeds of cattle for increase and productivity.
