TSU-ASUU Adamant, Says No Meaningful Engagement With Government
• Insists on total, indefinite strike, bans online and physical lectures
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) branch, has remained adamant on its indefinite strike, insisting that there has been no meaningful engagement with the Taraba State Government to resolve the issues behind the industrial action.
The union has reaffirmed its total strike, directing members to suspend all academic activities, including physical and online lectures, project supervision and teaching practice supervision.
In a statement signed by the branch chairperson, Dr. Garba Mbave Joshua, ASUU-TSU urged members to remain united, disciplined and committed to the strike until concrete progress is achieved through negotiations with the government.
The union said no teaching or supervision should take place throughout the strike, regardless of whether such activities are conducted physically, online or outside the university premises.
It warned members against using alternative platforms or arrangements to circumvent the collective decision, stressing that selective participation in academic activities could weaken its bargaining position.
ASUU-TSU also cautioned members against what it described as media propaganda, misleading reports and provocative statements allegedly aimed at undermining the strike.
The branch leadership urged members to disregard rumours and unverified information suggesting that the disagreement had been resolved, maintaining that its position remained unchanged.
It advised members to rely on official communications from the union for accurate information while resisting intimidation and attempts to create divisions within its ranks.
The union appreciated members for their sacrifices and commitment, insisting that solidarity remained essential to sustaining the industrial action and defending their interests.
