2027: Taraba APC Denies Chairman’s Viral Fulfulde Video Asking Voters to Reject Party Candidate
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has dismissed a social media allegation that its State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, directed voters in Sardauna Local Government Area to reject APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The party's State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Aaron Artimas, described the allegation as false and baseless, saying it was part of an attempt to damage the reputation of the APC chairman ahead of the 2027 elections.
Artimas was reacting to a video circulated on social media by an individual identified as Yusuf, who spoke in Fulfulde and alleged that Bawa had directed members of the Fulani community to vote against Hon. Abel Peter Daih, the APC candidate for the Gashaka-Kurmi-Sardauna Federal Constituency.
The APC spokesman, however, said the person featured in the video was not a member of the party and therefore had no authority to speak on behalf of the APC or its leadership.
He urged members of the public and APC supporters not to attach credibility to the allegation, insisting that the position expressed in the video did not represent the position of the party.
Artimas alleged that the video was sponsored by individuals seeking to discredit the APC chairman and create confusion within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He maintained that the allegation that Bawa had asked any section of the electorate to vote against an APC candidate was unfounded.
According to him, the controversy was being deliberately created to undermine the credibility of the party chairman and cause division among APC supporters.
The publicity secretary further alleged that the individual behind the video had previously faced legal consequences over what he described as fabricated allegations against Bawa.
Artimas also claimed that despite the previous controversy, the APC chairman had facilitated the individual's appointment as an adviser to the government.
The APC spokesman called on party members, supporters and the general public to disregard the video, describing its contents as lacking credibility.
He said the APC remained focused on strengthening its structures and preparing for the 2027 elections, urging members not to allow what he described as unverified social media claims to create division within the party.
Artimas reiterated that Bawa remained committed to the APC and its candidates, including Hon. Abel Peter Daih, and urged voters in the Gashaka-Kurmi-Sardauna Federal Constituency to discount the allegation attributed to the viral video.
