Governor Kefas Reinstates FC Taraba
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has announced the reinstatement of FC Taraba, signalling the state government’s return to active sponsorship of the football club.
The governor made the announcement on Saturday during the final of the Jalingo Champions League at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo.
The development ends years of inactivity for FC Taraba, a former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side that had previously represented the state in the country’s top-flight football competition.
Speaking in an interview shortly after the final, the Chairman of the Taraba State Youth Development Agency (TSYDA), Prince Gara Nongha Donga, said the decision reflected Governor Kefas’ commitment to sports development and youth engagement.
Donga said the return of the club would also provide an avenue for young football talents in the state to develop their careers while helping to project Taraba State through football.
He said further details on the club’s funding, management structure and proposed league placement would be made public by the TSYDA in the coming days.
The reinstatement is expected to renew interest in competitive football in Taraba and provide opportunities for young players to pursue professional careers through a state-backed club.
