TSUBEB Denies Allegation of Retired Directors Remaining in Office

 

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has dismissed allegations circulating on social media that some of its directors and senior officers are unlawfully remaining in office beyond the statutory retirement age.

 

In a statement issued by its management, the Board described the claims as false, malicious and defamatory, insisting that no retired director is currently serving unlawfully within the agency.

 

TSUBEB said all appointments, retirements and promotions within the Board are carried out in strict compliance with the Taraba State Public Service Rules and other relevant laws.

 

The Board explained that where service extensions are granted, they are done in line with due process and with the approval of appropriate authorities, noting that such decisions are based on public interest and not arbitrary actions.

 

It also refuted claims that its Executive Chairperson, Hon. Christiana Taninga Binga, retained any officer unlawfully, describing the allegation as baseless and aimed at tarnishing her reputation.

 

According to the statement, all officers currently serving under any form of extension have valid government approval.

 

The Board added that since assuming office, the chairperson has upheld transparency, accountability and strict adherence to public service regulations, contributing to ongoing reforms in the state’s education sector.

 

TSUBEB condemned what it described as a deliberate campaign of misinformation intended to mislead the public and undermine confidence in the institution.

 

It warned individuals and groups involved in spreading false information to desist, stressing that it reserves the right to take legal action against those found culpable.

 

The Board urged the public and media organisations to verify information through official channels, reaffirming its commitment to improving basic education in the state.
