2027: Igbo Group Pledges 500,000 Votes, Vows Massive Mobilisation For Gov Kefas

The Igbo Community in Taraba State has endorsed Governor Agbu Kefas for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement was made during a gathering of members of the community at the Igbo Community Hall, beside Catholic Schools, Mayo-Dassa, Jalingo, where traditional leaders, local government chairmen, religious leaders and other stakeholders converged to declare their support for the governor.

The event also attracted the Director-General of the Governor's Campaign Organisation, Hon. Danladi Tijos Baido, who led a delegation from the governor's office.

In his keynote address, the President-General of the Igbo Community in Taraba State, Deacon Michael Adili, formally announced the community's unanimous decision to support Governor Kefas for another term in 2027.

Adili said the decision was based on what he described as the governor's performance since assuming office, particularly in the areas of security, education and infrastructure.

According to him, members of the Igbo community had experienced insecurity, including attacks by suspected herdsmen and kidnappers, before the present administration, resulting in losses and hardship for residents.

He said the situation had changed under Governor Kefas, claiming that the restoration of peace had enabled residents to conduct their businesses and other daily activities without the level of fear previously experienced.

The Igbo leader also commended the administration's free education policy, as well as ongoing road and other infrastructural projects across the state.

He specifically mentioned the Kurmi, Baissa and Kente roads, alongside the ongoing upgrade of roads within the Jalingo metropolis.

Adili said the community would not stop at merely endorsing the governor but would mobilise its members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the 2027 election.

He said the community was prepared to come out en masse to support the governor at the polls.

Also speaking, the Legal Counsel to the Igbo Community in Taraba State, Barrister C.J. Okeke, said the community was targeting a substantial electoral contribution to the governor's re-election bid.

Okeke said the community was committed to delivering at least 500,000 votes for Governor Kefas in 2027.

He presented the community's formal letter of endorsement and commended the governor for what he described as efforts towards improving security and creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

Responding, the Director-General of the Governor's Campaign Organisation, Hon. Danladi Tijos Baido, who represented the governor at the event, thanked the Igbo community for the gesture.

Baido promised to convey the message of the community to Governor Kefas, assuring them that the administration would continue to provide a secure environment for all residents of the state, irrespective of ethnic or religious background.
