Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has announced that his administration will provide a ₦1 billion grant for the empowerment of youths across the state.

The governor made the announcement at the flag-off of a ₦500 million Youth Business Startup Grant at the Government House in Jalingo.

Speaking during the ceremony, Kefas said the initiative was designed to support young Tarabans to start and grow businesses, with the aim of promoting economic development and improving livelihoods across the state.

He said the additional ₦1 billion youth empowerment grant would be provided by the end of August 2026, bringing the government's total investment in youth business empowerment to more than ₦1.5 billion.

Governor Kefas said his commitment to youth empowerment predated his administration, noting that before becoming governor, he sponsored 2,000 youths in Wukari for the WAEC and NECO examinations and supported another 500 people to pursue studies in various higher institutions across the country.

The governor congratulated the beneficiaries of the ₦500 million Youth Business Startup Grant and expressed confidence that the programme would create opportunities and improve the livelihoods of young people across Taraba State.
