Taraba State University Matriculates New Students for 2025/2026 Academic Session

Taraba State University has formally admitted a new batch of students during its 17th matriculation ceremony, marking the commencement of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The ceremony, held in Jalingo, drew the attendance of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, members of the university management, deans, heads of departments, directors, government officials, security personnel, and parents.

The Registrar, Dr. Joseph U. Bibinu, conducted the formal proceedings, ushering in the new students into the academic community.

In his address, Prof. Bako congratulated the matriculating students, describing the event as the beginning of a transformative journey filled with opportunities for growth and self-discovery. He urged them to remain resilient and focused, noting that challenges and setbacks are part of the path to success.

The Vice Chancellor reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to quality education and its role in empowering individuals and communities. He also acknowledged the contributions of parents and guardians in supporting the students’ academic pursuits.

Prof. Bako commended the Taraba State Government for its support to the university, citing achievements such as the successful hosting of the Pre-NUGA Games, full accreditation of academic programmes, and ongoing infrastructural development, including the renovation and construction of student accommodation facilities under Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas.

He further disclosed plans for the commissioning of an Entrepreneurial Centre by the North East Development Commission (NEDC), aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship within the institution.

Also speaking, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Dr. Ahmad Baba, advised the students to adhere strictly to the university’s rules and regulations as the institution continues to expand.

The ceremony concluded with a closing prayer delivered by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Mahmood U. Hamidu.

The matriculation marks the formal admission of the students into the university, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing future leaders and professionals.
