Taraba Governor Hosts RMAFC Delegation on Data Verification Mission

 

Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has received a delegation from the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) currently in the state on a fact-finding mission.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the exercise, assuring the team of adequate security and hospitality throughout their stay.

Kefas also urged the commission to consider organizing workshops and training sessions to enlighten stakeholders on its roles and responsibilities, as well as clarify expectations for states and local government areas to enhance overall effectiveness.

The RMAFC delegation is in Taraba as part of a nationwide data verification exercise aimed at reviewing figures previously submitted by states and local governments.

The team is led by the Federal Commissioner representing Kano State at the commission, Hon. Adamu Fanda, who said the exercise is designed to generate accurate and updated data for determining revenue allocation among states and local government areas.

Fanda explained that revenue allocation in Nigeria is guided by specific indices meant to ensure fairness and equity in the distribution of national resources. He, however, noted that changing socio-economic realities, including population growth, infrastructural expansion, and widening development gaps, have necessitated a review of existing data.

According to him, the current process of reviewing the revenue allocation formula has reached an advanced stage, making it critical to validate the integrity and accuracy of the data that will guide future allocations.

He added that the team would collaborate with relevant ministries, departments, agencies, and local authorities during the exercise to ensure that verified data reflects present realities.

Fanda also appealed for the cooperation of the state government, stressing that the outcome of the exercise would have significant implications for both Taraba State and the country at large.
