Police Assure Tight Security for 2026 UTME in Taraba

The Taraba State Police Command has announced comprehensive security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah, said the measures are aimed at ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free conduct of the examination for candidates, officials, and the general public.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Morkwap Sebastian Dongshal, has ordered the strategic deployment of officers to all designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres and surrounding areas. The deployment, he said, will cover the period before, during, and after the examination.

The Command explained that the move is in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at safeguarding lives and property during the nationwide exercise conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

It added that the police will also carry out intensive patrols, intelligence-led surveillance, and traffic control operations to ensure smooth movement and prevent disruptions around examination venues.

Parents and guardians were advised to counsel their wards to remain law-abiding and adhere strictly to examination guidelines, while candidates were urged to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.

The Command warned that anyone found engaging in examination malpractice, impersonation, or other unlawful activities would be arrested and prosecuted.

Reassuring residents of its commitment to security, the police urged members of the public to report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police formation.
