Karimjo Community Celebrates Abedah Festival, Launches N50m Youth Empowerment Initiative

The Karimjo Community Development Association has celebrated this year’s Abedah Annual Festival with the launch of a N50 million empowerment initiative aimed at supporting youths through scholarships and skill acquisition programmes.

Themed “Empowering the Future for a Better Society,” the event underscored the community’s commitment to nurturing the next generation and promoting sustainable development.

In his opening address, the National President of the association, Comrade Kennedy James, expressed appreciation for the large turnout of community members, dignitaries, and well-wishers.

He said the theme reflects the association’s vision of raising future leaders, innovators, and change-makers, while building a society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. He also urged the people to embrace peace, unity, and mutual understanding, and to shun all forms of violence.

Chairman of the occasion, former Governor Rev. Jolly T. Nyame, who was represented by Hon. Rose Samaniya, commended the spirit of unity consistently displayed during the annual festival. He urged the community to sustain the culture to preserve its identity for future generations.

Nyame also called on the people of Karim Lamido to set aside their differences and live peacefully for the overall development of the area and the state.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Wurkum, His Royal Highness Alhaji Yakubu Abubakar Haruna Kirim, lauded the initiative, particularly its focus on uplifting the less privileged. He assured the community of continued peace and harmony in Karim Lamido.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Fulani Liaison Office in Karim Lamido, Malam A. Gallara, described the turnout as a clear demonstration of unity and peaceful coexistence among the people.

The colourful event attracted top government officials, traditional rulers, and members of various communities, showcasing a rich blend of culture, unity, and shared purpose.
