Taraba Veterinary Cooperative Marks 6th AGM, Praised for Member Development

The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (NVMA-MPCS) has held its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the cooperative, Dr Japheth Daniel, said the NVMA-MPCS was established in 2019 by the Taraba State chapter of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association to encourage members—most of whom are civil servants—to cultivate a savings culture in preparation for retirement and to engage in other productive ventures.

Dr Daniel commended members of the executive committee for their tireless efforts, support and cooperation, noting that their commitment had helped the cooperative record significant milestones since its inception.

Representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Bulus Yohannah praised the cooperative for expanding its impact beyond the veterinary profession and contributing meaningfully to members' welfare. He prayed for the sustained growth and success of the society.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), represented by Pharmacist Frank Ada, said the longstanding relationship between the veterinary and pharmaceutical professions had added value to healthcare delivery, particularly in promoting the rational use of medicines. He wished the NVMA-MPCS a successful AGM.

The event attracted key stakeholders, including the Director of Veterinary Services, representatives of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, the Nigerian Medical Association, the Branch Manager of UBA, Jalingo, and members of the cooperative.
