Karim Lamido Residents Hail Governor Kefas, Call for Improved Rural Roads

Residents of Karim Lamido Local Government Area have commended Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for what they described as significant developmental strides across key sectors of the state.

In separate remarks, community leaders, youths and business owners praised the governor's administration for implementing policies they say are positively impacting the lives of residents, particularly in the areas of education and security.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Acting District Head of Jen Kaigama District, Jen, Mr. Samuel Dennis, lauded the governor's free education policy, describing it as a major relief to parents and a catalyst for increased enrolment of pupils and students across the state.

He also commended the administration's decision to slash tuition fees in tertiary institutions by 50 per cent, noting that the move has made higher education more affordable and accessible to students from low-income families.

According to him, "The free education policy has lifted a huge burden off parents and has encouraged many children who were previously out of school to return to the classroom."

Despite the commendations, residents appealed to the governor to intensify efforts toward improving road infrastructure, especially in rural communities where poor road conditions continue to affect economic activities.

A trader in Karim Lamido, Mr. Pheebemi Dimas, expressed concern over the deplorable state of rural roads, particularly in farming communities that serve as major agricultural hubs.

"The condition of these roads makes it very difficult for farmers and traders to move their produce to markets. Transportation costs are high, and goods often get damaged," he said.

Dimas, however, commended Governor Kefas for the recent flag-off of major road projects in Wukari, describing the initiative as a step in the right direction. He appealed to the state government to extend similar road interventions to other parts of Taraba State to ensure inclusive development.

Residents expressed optimism that with sustained attention to infrastructure, the governor's development agenda would further boost economic growth and improve living standards across the state.
