Hunters Arrest Suspected Human Skeleton Trafficker in Gembu

The Hunters Security Group in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State has arrested a suspected member of a syndicate allegedly involved in the sale of human skeletons in Gembu, headquarters of the council.

The Commander of the group, Ahmadu Kaura Sarkin Bakan Mambilla, said the suspect was apprehended after an undercover operation in which he posed as a buyer and negotiated a sum of ₦4 million for the bones.

According to him, the suspect allegedly travelled by motorcycle across the border to Cameroon to procure the human bones after the deal was struck. He said the suspect has since been handed over to the police in Gembu for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Sarkin Bakan Mambilla called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to security operatives, noting that members of the hunters' group are stationed across the Mambilla Plateau to curb criminal activities.

He assured residents of sustained patrols and collaboration with other security agencies to rid the area of criminal elements.

Meanwhile, unverified reports circulating in the area allege that graves are being exhumed and skeletons removed by unknown persons suspected to be transporting them across the border. Authorities have yet to officially confirm the claims.
