Retired Permanent Secretaries Appeal to Gov Kefas To Increase Pension

The Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries in Taraba State has appealed to Governor Agbu Kefas to review upward the pensions of retired civil servants in order to cushion the effects of rising inflation.

The appeal was made during the association's end-of-year meeting and conveyed in a press statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Sani, and Secretary, Elder William Lamu.

The association said that following the recent upward review of salaries in line with the implementation of the national minimum wage, it has become necessary for the state government to also adjust the pensions of retired civil servants to ease the economic hardship currently faced by pensioners.

The retired permanent secretaries commended Governor Kefas for his sustained efforts in ensuring peace and security of lives and property across the state, describing peace as a key catalyst for attracting investors and development partners to Taraba State.

They also praised the governor for the payment of backlog of gratuities and other outstanding entitlements owed to retired civil servants, noting that the gesture has helped to alleviate the hardship faced by many retirees who had become vulnerable due to years of non-payment.

According to the statement, members of the association, who are seasoned technocrats with extensive experience across various sectors, expressed their willingness to offer advisory and support services to the state government whenever the need arises.

The association concluded by extending its goodwill messages to Governor Kefas, his deputy, members of the State Executive Council, the Taraba State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge of the state, and other stakeholders, wishing them a happy Yuletide season and a prosperous New Year.
