Fresh Hope As Gov. Kefas Orders Resumption Of Pensions, Gratuities Payment

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has signed a decisive Executive Order mandating the immediate commencement and completion of all outstanding pension payments, gratuities, and related entitlements for verified pensioners across the state.

The directive, announced on Tuesday, underscores the Governor's commitment to restoring dignity to retired public servants who dedicated their productive years to the service of Taraba State.

"Taraba State must honour those who have dedicated their lives to public service. Their dignity is non-negotiable, and attending to their welfare is our moral duty," Governor Kefas said while reaffirming his administration's resolve to prioritise long-neglected pension obligations.

As part of the enforcement of the Executive Order, a special outreach team will be dispatched to Local Government Areas, wards, and villages to identify pensioners who are alive but incapacitated, ensuring they are documented and paid without stress or delay.

The Ministry of Finance has also been directed to submit a weekly compliance report directly to the Governor's office, with a stern warning that no administrative bottleneck or delay will be tolerated.

The State Government appealed to pensioners to remain calm, assuring them that the payment process has been elevated to top priority and is being handled with urgency and compassion.
