Citizens Urges Senator Tutare to Contest For Governor Under ADC

 

A coalition of socio-political groups under the banner of the Coalition of Concerned Citizens of Taraba State (CCCTS) has called on Distinguished Senator Abubakar Umar Tutare to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing him as the most qualified and capable leader to reposition the state for progress.

 

Speaking at a press briefing in Jalingo, the state capital, the General Secretary of the Coalition, Prince Mammri Danjuma, said the group's decision followed wide consultations across all 16 Local Government Areas of Taraba State. He stated that the coalition and its over 50 affiliated support groups reached a unanimous conclusion that Senator Tutare remains the most credible alternative to the leadership challenges currently facing the state.

 

 

"Taraba State is at a crossroads. Virtually everything is not working. Our present and the future of our children have been mortgaged by leaders without vision or a clear mission," Prince Danjuma said.

 

 

"After careful consideration, we believe that Distinguished Senator Abubakar Umar Tutare is the only leader with the competence, experience, and courage to rescue Taraba from stagnation and set it on a new path of sustainable development."

 

 

He noted that Senator Tutare's political and administrative record reflects excellence in every public office he has held, including his time as Member of the Taraba State House of Assembly (First Deputy Speaker), Commissioner in several ministries—Rural Development, Finance, Water Resources, Sports, Works and Housing—Secretary to the State Government, Senator representing Taraba Central Senatorial District, and Federal Commissioner at the National Assembly Service Commission.

 

 

The Coalition further highlighted that Senator Tutarehad been recognized for outstanding service to the state, including receiving the Award of Excellence from the late Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai as the Most Performing Commissioner in his cabinet.

Prince Danjuma emphasized that the ADC, being a people-oriented political party, provides a credible platform for a new beginning in Taraba, adding that the coalition is prepared to mobilize grassroots support to ensure victory in 2027.

 

"Senator Tutare is a grassroots mobilizer, a bridge-builder, and a man of integrity. He commands respect across political divides and remains deeply connected to the ordinary people," he said.

 

 

"Under the ADC, we are confident that victory is achievable and that Taraba can finally experience the leadership it deserves."

The coalition's statement was endorsed by support groups drawn from all parts of the state, including ADC Movement, Hand in Hand Group for ADC, Taraba Arewa Youths for ADC, Elders in Support of Transformation, Women for Development, Taraba Farmers in Support of ADC, and Taraba Must Change 2027, among others.

 

 

The coalition concluded its appeal by urging Senator Tutare to listen to the voice of the people and formally declare his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election.

"For a better Taraba, for a united ADC, and for a hopeful future — we stand with Senator AbubakarUmar Tutare," the statement read.
