Governor Kefas Donates Armoured Trucks, Speed Boats to Nigerian Army in Taraba

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has handed over eight heavy-duty armoured trucks and four military speed boats to the Nigerian Army's 6 Brigade in Jalingo to boost their operational efficiency across the state.

Presenting the equipment to the Brigade Commander, Governor Kefas said the gesture underscores his administration's determination to sustain peace and protect lives and property in Taraba. He assured that the Army's request for enhanced mobility and firepower would be put to appropriate use in combating security threats.

The governor highlighted the successes of Operation Whirl Stroke, which he noted has, over the past two years, significantly curbed criminal activities within the state. He, however, emphasized the need to expand the operation to cover neighboring states to tackle cross-border crimes and strengthen national security.

"Taraba is currently enjoying relative peace due to our deliberate prioritization of security. But we cannot relent. Securing Taraba remains my major priority," Kefas said.

He disclosed that he has formally requested the deployment of a joint platoon with advanced technological support to monitor the state's vast border areas, stressing that such measures are essential in preventing infiltration by criminal elements.

Governor Kefas also commended the troops of 6 Brigade for their resilience and commitment to maintaining peace across the state, noting that their sacrifices have been instrumental in fostering stability.

The new armoured trucks and speed boats are expected to further strengthen the Army's capacity to respond swiftly to threats on land and waterways, consolidating the state's drive toward sustainable peace and security.
