Fed-Poly Bali Demotes Staff, Defers Promotion Of 4 Others For Exam Malpractices

 

The Academic Board of the Federal Polytechnic Bali in Taraba State has approved the demotion of a staff member, Esther Ishaya of the Computer Science department from Assistant Chief Technologist to Principal Technologist.

 

She was demoted for destroying the evidence collected from a student of the institution while serving as the Chief Invigilator in an examination.

 

The demotion takes effect from the 1st of January 2026.

 

The conduct of the staff was established by the Disciplinary Committee as a clear case of dishonesty.

 

This was part of the report presented to the Governing Council of the Institution and approved by the Council.

 

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Abubakar Usman notified the Council of the incident and the measure taken to safeguard the academic standard.

 

The Council acknowledged and noted the report accordingly.

 

Similarly, the promotions of 4 other members of staff were deferred by one year from the 1st of January 2026 to the 1st of January 2027.

 

Their offence was refusal to reveal facts during examination malpractice, which was viewed as conspiracy.

 

The four staff are Umar Abubakar, Olurundare Olayemi, Riki Rimamsikwe Amamra and Sanda Abubakar Garba. The Council equally noted the report accordingly.

 

In a related development, the Governing Council of the Polytechnic has also approved the promotion and change of Cadre of 15 members staff after fulfilling and meeting the requirements for promotion and Change of Cadre.

 

The Governing Council Chairman reiterated the Council's determination in ensuring timely promotion of deserving staff and change of Cadre based on institutional needs.

 

It could be recalled that the Council approved the promotions of some staff early this year and has now granted approval to another set having met the requirements.

 

The Council therefore commended the Rector and his Management team for the concern shown towards staff progress.
