Senator Haruna Manu To Sponsor 25 Students Abroad on Full Scholarship

Senator Haruna Manu, who represents Taraba Central Senatorial District, has unveiled a scholarship programme aimed at supporting 275 students through full academic sponsorships both within Nigeria and abroad.

Under the initiative, 25 students will be sponsored for postgraduate studies overseas, while an additional 250 students—50 from each of the five local government areas in the district—will receive full scholarships to study in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The announcement was made by Auwal Chul, member of the Senator Haruna Manu Scholarship Project, during an interview with Rock FM in Jalingo. Chul said the scholarship programmeis part of the senator's broader efforts to promote educational access and social equity for underprivileged youths.

Interested candidates can apply through a link to be made available on Senator Manu's official Facebook page. Chulemphasized that only qualified applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be selected.

"This is a significant step by Senator Manu to uplift the educational fortunes of young people in the central zone of Taraba," Chul said. "It reflects his commitment to human capital development and the belief that education is a powerful tool for social transformation."

According to Chul, the scholarships will cover full tuition feesfor the duration of study. The foreign scholarship programmetargets postgraduate students, while the domestic scholarship is intended for undergraduates studying at accredited institutions in Taraba State.

Eligible institutions for the domestic component include:FederalUniversity Wukari (FUW); Taraba State University (TSU);College of Education, Zing (COE Zing); College of Agriculture, Jalingo (COA Jalingo); Federal Polytechnic, Bali; Taraba State Polytechnic, Jalingo; College of Health Technology, Takum and School of Nursing, Jalingo

Chul noted that the programme is designed to remove financial barriers that often hinder bright students from pursuing higher education.

"The scholarship is a deliberate effort to ensure that academic excellence is not determined by socio-economic background. It is about giving every child a fair chance at success," he added.

The 2025/2026 scholarship cycle will begin with simultaneous implementation of both the foreign and domestic programmes.
