No Examination Malpractice in GDSS Salihu Dogo – Principal

The Principal of Salihu Dogo Government Day Secondary School (GDSS), Jalingo, Mr. Safiyanu Umar, has debunked allegations of collecting examination malpractice fees from Senior Secondary School (SSS) 3 students preparing to sit for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Taraba Truth and Factsnewspaper, the principal denied the allegations of collecting money for examination malpractice from students under his watch.

He noted that all his efforts have been directed toward setting up an Examinations Committee, as a strong stance against examination malpractice. The committee is charged with the responsibility of checkmating all forms of malpractice within Salihu Dogo Government Day Secondary School.

Mr. Umar disclosed that earlier this year, the school convened a general meeting, which was attended by officials from the Ministry of Education and members of the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA). During the meeting, he was categorically warned by the ministry's representatives to avoid any involvement in examination malpractice, regardless of its scale.

He, however, explained that the issue of malpractice is being addressed through formal mechanisms aimed at putting the school on a solid footing with regard to examination integrity.

He emphasized that examination malpractice in schools is a worrisome trend that has deeply affected the nation's educational system, leading to the emergence of half-baked graduates who struggle to secure employment due to a lack of competence.
