Attorney General Wades Into Taraba NFF Crisis

The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo has granted an out-of-court settlement in a suit filed by Victor Ando Andrew over the prolonged crisis rocking the Nigerian Football Federation NFF, Taraba State chapter and three others.

The out-of-court settlement was granted by Presiding Judge, Salim Ibrahim, following an appeal for an out-of-court settlement by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Taraba State, Barrister Yakubu Maikasuwa in an agreement was reached between the parties and the counsels, bringing an end to the legal battle.

 

Speaking to journalists on behalf of the Attorney General, Barrister Nerus Johnson expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the court sitting, adding that they are happy with the outcome of the court sitting. 

 

Also speaking lead counsel to the complainant, Barrister Isa Buba expressed optimism that the out-of-court settlement will bring an end to the prolonged NFF crisis in Taraba State. 

 

He said the settlement is a significant step towards resolving the crisis in the NFF. 

 

The counsel to the NFF,Barrister Shia Elija also shared his view on the proceedings.

 

He noted that the out-of-court settlement is a welcome development and they are committed to promoting football development in Taraba State and across the country.

 

Presiding Judge, Salim Ibrahim, commended both counsel and parties for unanimously consenting to the out-of-court settlement. He, however, maintained that all parties given orders by the court should endeavor to attend the next sitting adjourned for October 8, 2024.

 

Also in attendance, the Taraba State Commissioner for youth and sports development, Joseph joshua, National secretary general of Nigerian Football Federation, Sanusi Mahmoud Muhammed and some dignitaries were at the court during the sitting.

 

The out-of-court settlement brings an end to the legal battle over the crisis in the NFF Taraba State chapter, and is seen as a positive development for football in the state.
