As Contractor Abandons Project, Residents Laments Non- Completion Of General Hospital Bambur

 

Residents of Bambur in Karim Lamido Local Government area of Taraba State has lamented the non-completion of  ongoing renovation of a General Hospital located in the area, calling on Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku to ensure the project is completed before the expiration of his tenure.

 

Governor Ishaku had earlier embarked on renovation and upgrades of some secondary health facilities include Wukari General Hospital and Takum General Hospital in the southern zone, Gembu General Hospital and Warwar General Hospital in the central zone, as well as Bambur General Hospital and the State Specialist Hospital in the northern zone.

 

However while Wukari General Hospital and Takum General Hospital were already completed and put to use, the General Hospital Bambur project is 60% completed but the contractor abandoned the project  site, residents told Taraba Truth and Fact Newspaper.

 

Celeb Tonga lamented that the General Hospital renovation in the 3 senatorial zones started together, that of Bambur, wukari and Gembu, "today general hospital wukari and Gembu were both completed and commissioned leaving Bambur General Hospital behind, and the contractors left the site without any explanation.

 

"Our concern is that the governor has few days to vacate office and this project which is one major thing Karim Lamido Local Government would be benefiting from the Ishaku's administration is yet to be completed."

 

Also leading concern residents of  Karim Lamido in clamoring for the completion of the project, Amb Aliyu  Alimoh in an open letter  pleaded  with the Taraba state government, the entire executives and legislature towards the finishing up the project before May 29 2023.

 

"This project is for the whole people of Karim lamido local government to benefit through health. Our people are being facing series of challenges to access health facility from all angles.

 

"Since 1999 to date the good people of Karim lamido local government never benefited from any giant project from Taraba state government apart from the renovation of the General Hospital Bambur, remember, Karim Lamido local government share boarders with four neighboring states and general hospital Bambur is the only biggest health facility to be access, but yet nothing has been done.

 

This project was not allocated to only Karim Lamido, there are others allocated in Gembu, Wukari and Takum. But surprisingly, the one in Bambur is not completed and the contractor was not on site for over 2 years due to funding," Aliyu writes.

 

A member of the People's Democratic Party PDP in Karim Lamido local government  Israel Bandawa said members of the Party are planning to meet the governor to discuss the progress of the party and other developments in the area.

" We have been voting PDP since 1999 to date without hesitation, but this time around the tune might change. Those stakeholders from the local government cage around DDI podium should bear in mind this time around they should know whom to sell for the people of Karim lamido local government or get stoned."
